Fox Network Television History

The Fox Network television history has not all been plain sailing. It was launched in October 1986 after the parent company of 20th Century Fox, TCF Holdings, sold 50% of its shares to News Corporation for 0 million in 1985. New Corporation then bought six television stations in various major cities from Metromedia. At this time, the stations that they bought were broadcastings to just 22% of households in the United States. Once they started broadcasting as Fox in 1986 there were reaching 80%. This however, was not enough to be considered alongside the other three main networks of ABC, CBS and NBC who were reaching over 97%. Fox was still in its infancy at this point and although it had many plans in the pipeline it was only broadcasting one show - The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers.

The network was seen to have a young and slightly irreverent outlook in its programming and was soon broadcasting shows such as 'Married... with Children' and 'The Tracey Ullman Show'. It was not long before 'The Simpsons' was born and this went on to be the longest running animated series and situation comedy in the history of U.S. television. Fox Network television history was being made.

'America's Most Wanted' was the next big success story in Fox Network television history and was the first show to make it into the top 50 shows of the week in the all important Nielson ratings. The show is still among the prime time hits. Although Fox was well on its way to being recognised as a top network broadcaster, its ranking with the other big three was still elusive.

Fox Network Television History

This all changed in 1993 when Fox gained the National Football League coverage contract. Until then this had been the rights of CBS, where it had found its home since the 1950s. After just one season of the NFL coverage, Fox had to be considered alongside CBS, ABC and NBC... the big three had become the big four. Around the same time, Fox started to broadcast some soap operas aimed at the younger audience and these were popular from the outset. Shows such as 'Beverly Hills 90210' and 'Melrose Place' were an important part of the Fox network but even they were beaten on viewing figures by 'The X-Files'. This was the networks entrance ticket to the Top 25 in the Nielson rating schedule.

Since then, Fox Network television history has given us such shows as 'Family Guy', 'King of the Hill' and many reality shows such as 'Joe Millionaire'. Such shows are not popular with everyone and some have knocked the network for broadcasting distasteful viewing. However, the finale of the first series of 'Joe Millionaire' was watched by over 40 million people. The figures speak for themselves. Fox has always been an entertainment channel. It has never faired well with news reporting but has found its own niche where it entertains and brightens up the lives of millions of viewers throughout the United States.

(TBN) Team Builders Network Review - Prelaunch Home Based Business Opportunity

TBN or, Team Builders Network is a multilevel marketing home based business opportunity currently in prelaunch that is created to "use the automation and communication benefits of technology... to help individuals market and grow their own TBN Independent Business." Here is a simple review of the business and opportunity.

Team Builders Network is a new online home based business opportunity based in the multilevel marketing industry and currently about to enter prelaunch. The cost of starting this opportunity is initially free, but looking further in to it there will be an overhead to run your business with TBN. The products and services other than the opportunity itself will be based on purchasing goods that many individuals use every day online without the waste of time and gas spent driving around town. Although they are not exactly specific about the actual products and services one should ask their purposed upline what they are exactly.

The compensation structure with TBN is based on the highly touted 2x12 matrix compensation which is typically a multilevel marketing structure. Each member is given the ability to place their new members into a binary or "two leg" structure trying to build at least one solid leg. The commissions will be paid not only upon retail sales, but through the sales of your team members and their members to you as well. Although the matrix compensation plan is touted as a fast and simple way to build a team, the fact remains that the requirement of 100's if not 1000's will be needed to create a truly substantial income online.

(TBN) Team Builders Network Review - Prelaunch Home Based Business Opportunity

Team Builders Network is a legitimate home based business opportunity that through solid online marketing training, a good sponsor and solid effort every day some should find success with. There is however a nearly 97% attrition rate in the first year for many in the multilevel marketing home business industry which can be overcome through quickly branding yourself online as a leader in your particular business, opportunity or affiliate program.

Types of Network Topology

Network topology refers to the physical layout of the network i.e. the locations of the computers and how the cable is run between them. To select the right topology for how the network will be used is very important. Each topology has its own strength and weaknesses.

The choice of a topology for installing a computer network depends upon a combination of factors such as, reliability, performance of the system, number of nodes and geographical distribution of the system.

The main 2 types are

Types of Network Topology

Bus Topology & Peer to Peer Topology

Peer to Peer topology consists of Star topology and Ring topology.

Bus Topology

It is often used when network installation is small, simple or temporary. On a typical bus network the cable is just 1 or more wires with no active electronics to amplify the signal or pass it along from computer to computer. This makes the bus a passive topology. When 1 computer send a signal up the wire all the computers receive the information but only one with the address that matches accepts the information, the rest disregard the message.

Advantages:

1) Easy to use and to understand.

2) Requires least amount of cable to connect the computers together. It is therefore less expensive than other cabling arrangements.

3) It is easy to extend a bus; two cables can be joined into 1 longer cable with a BNC, Barrel connector making a longer cable and allowing more computers to join the network.

Disadvantages:

1) Heavy network traffic can slow a bus considerably as only 1 computer can send a message at a time.

2) It is difficult to troubleshoot the bus. A cable break or loose connector causes reflection and stops all the activity.

Star Topology

In this kind of topology all the cables run from the computers to the central location where they are all connected by a device called hub or switch. Each computer on a star network communicates with a central device that resends the message either to each computer or only to the destination computer, e.g. if it is a hub then it will send to all and if it is a switch then it will send to only destination computer. When network expansion is expected and when the greater reliability is needed, star topology is the best.

Advantages:

1) It is easy to modify and add new computers without disturbing the rest of the network.

2) The center of the star network is a good place to diagnose the faults.

3) Single computer failure does not necessarily bring down the whole star network.

Disadvantages:

1) If the central device fails the whole network fails to operate.

2) Star networking is expensive because all network cables must be pulled to one central point, requires more cable than other network topologies.

Ring Topology

In this type each computer is connected to the next computer with the last one connected to the first. Each retransmits what it receives from the previous computer. The message flows around the ring in one direction. The ring network does not subject to signal loss problem as a bus network experiences. There is no termination because there is no end to the ring.

Advantages:

1) Each node has equal access.

2) Capable of high speed data transfer.

Disadvantages:

1) Failure of one computer on the ring can affect the whole network.

2) Difficult to troubleshoot the network.

Topologies remain an essential part of network design speculation. But understanding these can help you to get the deeper knowledge of the elements like hub, switch etc.

What's the Best Satellite TV Deal - DirecTV or Dish Network?

So you've finally decided to make the switch from cable and go to satellite television, the only problem is you're not sure what the best satellite TV deal currently is, especially with two brand name companies competing for your television viewing pleasure. Right now the two most popular satellite TV companies are DirecTV and Dish Network. Both offer a variety of similar features with enough differences to please almost any consumer, even the hard to please television watcher.

Both satellite television companies offer over 250 channels of programming and are up to date with the newest technology to include high definition TV (HDTV), digital video recording (DVR) features and other proprietary features specific to that particular satellite TV provider.

Perhaps the biggest difference is noticed in the programming packages and pricing structure that each company offers its potential customers.

What's the Best Satellite TV Deal - DirecTV or Dish Network?

DirecTV offers the following three programming choices for consumers to choose from if they are considering purchasing their satellite TV service form the company.

The Total Choice package, which runs about .99 a month and offers over 155 Channels plus 50 XM Satellite Radio Channels. Its next higher package is the Total Choice Plus package for more at .99 a month. This plan offers over 185 channels, 17 additional XM Satellite Radio Channels and 30 additional channels of family and general interest entertainment. Its final programming package is the Total Choice Premier package, which runs a hefty .99 a /month but does provide over 250 channels, more then 30 premium movie channels and specialty sports networks plus DVR service is included at no extra charge.

Dish Network offers six different programming packages for prospective customers to choose from if they are considering purchasing their services.

The first package is the DishFamily package. This package offers a large variety of family style programming. It has about 30 channels that are offered. The next plan is referred to as America's Top 60. This plan has up to 60 channels of programming that should please most TV viewers. The next higher plan is America's Top 60 Plus, which is basically the same as the Top 60 but with the addition of the customer's local Regional Sports Networks. The next plan is proclaimed to be Dish Networks most popular plan and is called America's Top 120, which as you would expect has 120 different channels of entertainment style programming. America's Top 180 is the programming plan that offers 60 additional channels of programming for consumers to enjoy. Finally Dish Network offers it's America's Premium Pak, which is its premium plan offering many more additions to the Top 180 plan.

Although it looks like both satellite companies differ greatly the truth is many of the programming channels are the same between the two satellite TV providers. As someone who has received programming from both companies I can personally say that both offer fantastic customer service, great prices, fast installation and similar programming. The biggest difference for me was the sports programming that both providers offer.

In my opinion DirecTV has an edge in this category. Although Dish Network does offer the opportunity to receive regional sports programming it unfortunately can't compete with the sports programming packages that DirecTV offers its customers. The NFL Sunday Ticket is by far one of the premier draws for DirecTV customers and although Dish Network does offer more movie programming plans it simply doesn't have the programming to match the many different sports related channels offered by Direct TV.
